In this post, there are ten transgender people who are breaking the barriers and have proven they are best in their respective fields. So, we meet some members of the transgender community who have fought discrimination and intimidation to come out with flying colors.
 

1.Gauri Sawant

Gauri Sawant was born as a male child Ganesh and raised in Pune in her childhood. She left her house at the age of 18 Gauri Sawant is a transgender activist from Mumbai, India. She is the director of Sakshi Char Chowghi that helps transgender people and people with HIV/AIDS.
 

2. Laxmi Narayan Tripathi

Laxmi Narayan is a transgender rights activist and Bharatanatyam dancer in Mumbai, India. In 2008, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi became the country’s first transgender to represent Asia Pacific at the UN, but her childhood was scarred by abuse.
 

3. Dr. Manabi Bandopadhyay

In 2005, she became India's first transgender to have acquired a Ph.D. in literature. On 7 June 2015, Bandopadhyay was appointed the first transgender college principal of Krishnagar Women's College in West Bengal.
 

4. Padmini Prakash

Padmini Prakash is a trans woman, she is a news anchor, actor, and transgender rights, activist. She made history by becoming the first Indian Trans person to be a news anchor in the Tamil channel Lotus News Channel on 15 August 2014.
 


 

5. K Prithika Yashin

The first transgender police officer in Tamil Nadu, K Prithika Yashini fought a legal battle to be identified as 'transgender' on her application form to join the police force. Today, she is a sub-inspector in Chennai.
 

6. Joyita Mondal

India's first transgender judge who was appointed at Lok Adalat in North Bengal in October 2017. On July 8, 2017, 29-year old Mondal became the first transgender judge of a Lok Adalat from West Bengal India She attended office as a judge of a Lok Adalat at Islampur in the North Dinajpur, where some of her first cases involved the recovery of loans made by banks.
 

7. Nitasha Biswas

India's first transgender beauty queen, crowned in 2017. Kolkata’s Nitasha Biswas became India’s first Miss Transqueen. She was winning the title at a beauty pageant held in Gurugram. The 26-year-old is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Management.
 

8. Shabnam Bano

Shabnam "Mausi" Bano is the first transgender Indian to be elected to public office (MLA).[She was an elected member of the Madhya Pradesh State Legislative Assembly from 1998 to 2003. Shabnam Mausi inspired many transgender people in India to take up politics and participate in 'mainstream activities' in India.
 

9. Sathyasri Sharmila

India's first transgender lawyer, appointed in June 2018. She enrolled her name in Bar Council Of Tamil Nadu And Puducherry and became the first transgender lawyer in India. She had struggled a lot in her life. She expects that people from her community will do well and serve at higher positions across the country.
 

10. Jiya Das

India's first transgender operation theatre technician, appointed in June 2018. A few days back, Jiya created history by becoming Bengal’s first transwoman OT technician to assists doctors during live operation. A resident of the Malda district in West Bengal.
