How to Check Your Case Status by Your FIR Number

What is the meaning of FIR Number?
The procedure of filing an FIR is prescribed in Section 154 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973. The full form of the FIR is the First Information Report. It is written documents, which prepared by police. When the police received information about any offense, it must be an incognizable offense. Its called FIR. After an FIR is lodged, a copy would be given to you and the police will start an investigation upon the complaint made.
When the investigation is completed a charge sheet will be filed if offenders are identified and a closure report will be filed if the investigation is unfruitful. Throughout the investigation, the investigating officer is obliged to maintain a case diary recording daily investigation pattern. It is important to note that an FIR cannot be taken back legally although it is well known that in certain cases the issue is settled at the police station itself.
A search of the case status by FIR registered number can be done online through the website of Ecourt.gov.in. You can track your case status by FIR number from an online portal.

Step 1: Open the webpage of Ecourt.gov.in

Step 2: Select State, district, Court complex option.

Step 3: Select the police station option.

Step 4: Put the FIR number.

Step 5: Enter the year of FIR.
Step 6: Select your case status ( Pending, Disposed of, Both).
Step 7: Enter your captcha Code and click the go option.
Step 8: Open the page where you can see your FIR Number and your case status.
Step 9: If you want to know further information about your case, you can click the view option. Now you can see all the case details in your FIR Number.
