What is FASTag?

FASTag is basically an automatic electronic system to collect payment at the Toll Plazas on the National Highway. It is operated by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

It employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making all the toll payments directly from the prepaid or your bank account linked to it or directly toll owner.

FASTag is mandated nowadays by the government because to reduce traffic at the toll plazas.

Use of FASTag

FASTag is very simple to use. It is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle. When your car will pass through the toll plazas, your FASTag will be enabled and automatically deducted money from your account and let you pass through the toll plazas without stopping for a cash transaction.

 

Where you can get this Tag

You can order this tag from the online like PAYTM and also you can get this tag from participating banks and various government Tag issuers.

Then, you have to link this tag with your account. If it is linked with your pre-paid account then recharging or top-up can be as per requirement. Also, some banks have online forms to generate FASTag. Interested customers fill that form and submit all the necessary documents in the bank.

1. Registration certificate of the vehicle.
2. Passport size photo of the vehicle owner.
3. KYC documents of the vehicle owner. (Identity Proof, Address Proof).

 


How to recharge FastTag and Charges

To recharge your FASTag online you can use your debit/credit card/ RTGS/NEFT or through Net banking. For online recharge, convenience fees can be added with your transaction processing fees.
 
A one-time charge levied only the first time for registration as a FASTag User. This charge is applicable when your Tag is activated for your vehicle.
